Chapter 2: THE PHOTOGRAPHER

The number one advice for booking your photographer. Choose a professional! Make sure you check out their website, get referrals from friends and follow on facebook or blog to see some real weddings.

If possible meet your photographer face to face (or Skype if you can't) BEFORE you book.

Don't assume that just because you have contacted a photographer and they told you the date is available that you are booked in. You will most definitely need to pay a booking fee to secure your date, bearing in mind that a lot of professionals book up to two years in advance.

Before you book, be clear on what the packages involves. Do you get all the images? is an album included? How long does the process take to receive your images?

Go photo journalistic. It may be the 'new black' in wedding photography, but looking back to the best wedding images in history (maybe even your parents wedding album?) natural images as opposed to
'posed' is the order of the day. Remember, this is one of the most important days of your life, not a photo shoot!

Have input. Just because you love your photographers work, the day is yours so let your photographer know what is sentimental. Relax and enjoy. If you have a professional photographer they will also act as 'time keeper', they will let you know and advise you as to how to get the best out of your day.

Lastly..and simply, make sure you gel with your photographer. It is an emotional day and the person you choose will be right with you throughout the day.
